Education
I have a Bachelor of Music in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. While here I achieved a great understanding of music theory and its principles, which may include but is not limited to chord naming, chorale analyzation, and voicing. This degree consisted of writing for ensembles of all types and sizes including orchestration for full symphony orchestras. While at the University of Miami I also worked toward a minor in spanish language where my course level reached the collegiate 400 level. I also have a Master of Music in Music Technology Innovation from Berklee College of Music Valencia Campus.
Experience
While at the University of Miami, I was both a Spanish Language and Music Theory tutor for 2 years. In addition to the immense spanish language immersion in such a diverse city such as Miami, I was constantly practicing my language skills with friends, colleagues, and in my tutoring classes. My Spanish Language courses reached the collegiate 400 level. After living in Miami, I attended Graduate School (for Music) in Valencia, Spain, where little to no English is spoken. I have a vast level of practical and conversational spanish due to my full year of living in Spain. Also, as a native English speaker, I understand the struggles that may come along with learning Spanish as a 2nd language. I was also a music theory tutor and as a patient person I also understand the struggles of understanding music theory. I have a degree under the music theory/composition umbrella and area and will be of great assistance to understanding/re-understanding the basics of music theory. As both a music and Spanish tutor, my students saw increases in their grades and understanding of the respective subject matters after 2 sessions with me. Also, those who continued working with me on a more consistent basis began to come back with smiles on their faces : )
